Avocado carbonara: creamy, guilt-free pasta you'll love

Creamy. Comforting. Packed with healthy fats. Not to be dramatic, but we're obsessed with this recipe.

Why every ingredient earns its place

Avocado toast is in its pasta era, and we are not complaining. This avocado carbonara is the same creamy comfort food energy you love, just with ingredients that are actually doing something for your body. No heavy cream. No guilt. Just good fats, real flavour, and a bowl that feels indulgent without leaving you heavy.

🥑 Avocado: your creamy base, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, monounsaturated fats, potassium, and B vitamins. It does the job of heavy cream, but actually works for you
🥚 Egg yolks: add richness and bind the sauce, contributing fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. Save the whites for an egg white omelette tomorrow. Nothing wasted
🧀 Parmesan: kept because we're not monsters. It adds calcium, a hit of protein, and that deep savoury depth that makes this taste like proper carbonara
🫒 Olive oil: heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and anti-inflammatory properties. A small drizzle goes a long way in this sauce
🥓 Turkey bacon: lean protein to top it off, lower in saturated fat than regular bacon, air fried at 180°C with zero oil so it crisps up perfectly every time

A genuinely balanced, nutrient-dense meal. Healthy fats from avocado and olive oil, lean protein from turkey bacon, real comfort food energy that doesn't leave you feeling sluggish after.

This recipe is for you if

  • You want pasta that doesn't feel like a setback
  • You love avocado toast but want something more filling
  • You're after a quick, satisfying weeknight dinner

Less relevant if

  • You're avoiding egg yolks or dairy
  • You want a strict high-protein meal
  • You don't have a ripe avocado on hand

The recipe

Avocado Carbonara

Creamy. Comforting. Actually good for you.

Prep5 min
Cook11 min
Serves2-3

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • Spaghetti (enough for 2-3)
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 3 tbsp parmesan cheese
  • Drizzle of olive oil
  • 3 turkey bacon strips

Method

  1. Mash together the avocado, egg yolks, parmesan, and olive oil until smooth and creamy. This is your sauce.
  2. Boil spaghetti for 11 minutes until al dente. Salt your water. It matters.
  3. Air fry turkey bacon at 180°C for 5 minutes. No oil needed. You want it properly crispy.
  4. Drain the pasta and toss directly into the avocado sauce while still hot. Mix well to coat every strand.
  5. Top with crispy turkey bacon bits and serve immediately. 🥑
Toss the pasta while it's still hot. The residual heat from the spaghetti is what brings the avocado sauce together and gives you that silky, restaurant-style coating on every strand. Don't let it sit and cool before mixing.

Tips

"The avocado has to be soft and ripe for that extra-creamy texture."

Tip 01

Ripe avocado only. A hard avocado won't mash into a smooth sauce, so you'll end up with lumps in your pasta. Press the top gently before you start. It should give slightly. If it doesn't, give it another day.

Tip 02

Save the egg whites. You only need the yolks here for richness. Pop the whites in a small container and refrigerate them for a quick egg white omelette the next morning. Nothing goes to waste.

Tip 03

Air fry the bacon. 180°C for 5 minutes gives you even, crispy turkey bacon with zero oil. Pan frying works too, but the air fryer is consistently better and genuinely easier to clean up.

Tip 04

Eat it straight away. Avocado oxidises quickly once mashed. The colour and texture are best immediately after tossing. This is not a meal prep dish. Scoop, top, eat.

Something we have alongside this

This recipe already does a lot of the right things. Avocado for healthy fats, turkey bacon to keep it lean, olive oil for anti-inflammatory support. But if you're eating well and also working on your weight goals, what you pair with your meals matters just as much as what's in them.

The kombucha tip in this recipe isn't random. Gut health and metabolism are more connected than most people realise. Good digestion means better nutrient absorption, less bloating, and more stable energy throughout the day. That's exactly the thinking behind our Lemon Kombucha Blend.

One scoop, mix into water and have it while your pasta cooks, just like the reel. It tastes like a proper lemon drink, not a supplement 🍋

Quick summary

  • Five ingredients, 15 minutes. Mash, boil, air fry, toss, done.
  • Avocado replaces heavy cream, giving you the same creamy texture, healthy fats and omega-3s instead of saturated fat.
  • Turkey bacon air fried at 180°C for 5 minutes. No oil, consistently crispy, easy cleanup.
  • Toss the pasta into the sauce while it's still hot. That's what gives you the silky coating.
  • Eat it immediately. Avocado sauce doesn't keep once mashed. Best eaten fresh.
